Support for Students

Evening students often feel isolated, not part of the university community. They should be reassured that they are entitled to all benefits of a day student:

*        free gym membership at the Gallagher Athletic Center

*        free access to online databases via Gutman Library

*        dining discounts on campus card when using declining balance

Beyond this, evening students should be encouraged to use the support services on campus to help them be successful. Our Learning and Advising Center offers writing tutoring offers day and some evening hours.

CPS also offers free occasional skills workshops that emphasize writing, finding credible sources and citing. You’ll be notified of these events by email from Joanne O’Neill.

Students (and even faculty) may want to take a look at Atomic Learning. This online tool features short – 1-3 minutes – video tutorials on hundreds of software applications.

Watch just one or two for a basic intro, or watch a whole series to fully master the application. Students can find videos on Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop and many others. There are also full workshops on web searching, citing with MLA style and creating effective presentations.
