Several Graphic Design Communication students have recently continued the rich tradition of having their excellent work recognized in international and national design competitions and publications. Recent graduate J’Nay Penn (PhilaU GDC, 2013) was named a Semifinalist in the Package Design category of the very prestigious 2013 Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA). J’Nay’s design for her game, “Say What?,” was produced in the Package Design course taught by Associate Professor Maribeth Kradel Weitzel. Likewise, Carolina Barbosa was also recognized as a Semifinalist in the Print Communication category of the 2013 ADAA with her magazine project, Exquisito Magazine, which was designed in the Advanced Publication Design course taught by Adjunct Professor (and alum, PhilaU GDC, 2003), Lindsey Crissman. The Adobe Design Achievement Awards is the most prestigious student design competition in the world for students working in Graphic Design, Digital/Interactive Design, Animation, Illustration, Package Design, and Photography (among 12 total categories).
And last but not least, the game designed by Emma Claffy, "Cooties," also from the Package Design course taught by Associate Professor Maribeth Kradel Weitzel was a Runner Up in Creative Quarterly 32. Congrats to all of the students and faculty for their fine efforts!
