Jaclyn Mack’s swimsuit design is featured in the 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

The 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue features one of the designs of Philadelphia University alumnus Jaclyn (Kelly) Mack ’05.

Mack, head designer of junior swimwear for A.H. Schreiber, designed Target’s Xhiliration-brand bikini worn by model Jessica Perez. The bikini was the first swimsuit from Target ever to be featured in the Sports Illustrated special issue.

A.H. Schreiber is a private label swimwear company that produces designs for Target, Kohl’s, J.C. Penney and other retailers. Mack began working for the company after graduating from PhilaU, working her way up from assistant designer to her current role as head of the junior division.

The swimsuit featured in Sports Illustrated was inspired by a hand-made pouch Mack  found in Bali. “I travel around the world throughout the year with the other head designers in our company,” Mack said. “It helps us get fresh inspiration since we are continually designing swimwear throughout the year for all of our customers.”

Mack credits her time at PhilaU with helping to prepare her for her future career. “PhilaU helped prepare me for my position in many different ways,” she said. “It was hands on in all aspects, and I really liked the small classes, which allowed me to work closely with my professors.”

Target included a mini-magazine insert in this year’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and Mack said she created almost half of the designs in the insert.

The swimsuit featured in the magazine can be seen on Sports Illustrated’s website.
