PhilaU students design and grow mushroom furniture: The Philadelphia Inquirer

PhilaU industrial design students Brian McClellan and Merjan Tara Sisman designed and grew furniture from mushroom roots as part of their senior industrial design projects, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported June 14.  The story detailed the process the pair used with the organic material to develop McClellan’s pendant lamps and Sisman’s chair. Industrial design program director Gotz Unger said the thrill of design is that “you get to dream stuff up and find a way to make it happen.”
