Celebrate Homecoming and Family Day at PhilaU Oct. 4-5

Philadelphia University will welcome alumni, families and friends to campus this weekend to celebrate Homecoming and Family Day 2013. There will be something for everyone during the weekend’s festivities, including campus tours, a Downton Abbey-themed cocktail party, Homecoming dinner and dance, open classes, sporting events and a 5K Ram Run.

Friday, October 4

Campus Tours
Depart from the Gallagher Center
10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Enjoy a Rambassador-led tour of the new DEC Center and other recent additions to PhilaU’s campus.

Observe a Textile Class
Hayward Hall, room 007
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Check out what some of today’s PhilaU students are learning in the classroom. Alumni are welcome to visit a textile class where students will develop a variety of texture and color effects for knit design.

Downton Abbey Cocktail Party
The Design Center at Philadelphia University

7 to 10 p.m.
Cost: $15

Kick off Homecoming Weekend with a Downton Abbey-themed cocktail party. Explore The Design Center’s Downton Abbey exhibit featuring post-World War I inspired apparel over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Saturday, October 5

Registration and Hospitality Booth
Outside Reichlin House
8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Stop by the hospitality booth to check in and grab your PhilaU swag. Directions, an events timeline and complimentary beverages will be provided.

Ram Run/5K
Meet in front of Gallagher Center
8:30 a.m.
Cost: $15 for PhilaU students/$20 for non-students; Day of Registration $25

Runners and recreational walkers are invited to join PhilaU for our annual 5K Ram Run. The event benefits PhilaU’s Physician Assistant Studies program. Pre-register through www.fastcatsports.com.

Meet the Deans Breakfast and Panel

Enjoy breakfast with PhilaU deans who will speak about the latest campus happenings.

Brunch with the Spies
The Franklin Institute, Center City, Philadelphia
10 a.m. to noon
Cost: Adults $20, Children $10
Parking: Discounted rates for PhilaU guests at Franklin Institute garage: $6
Enjoy a special brunch followed by a tour of the SPY: The World of Espionage exhibit at the Franklin Institute where you can observe over 200 historical artifacts while learning the importance of intelligence gathering.

Annual Alumni Tailgate and Picnic
Ravenhill Campus
Noon to 4 p.m.
Cost: Adults $20, Children (12 and under) $5

Parking: $10 at tailgate lot
The PhilaU community can join in the fun while cheering the men’s and women’s soccer teams to victory. Enjoy BBQ, Chubby’s cheesesteaks, music, street performers and activities for all ages.

Bring your funny bone to Philly Improv Theater Company’s special campus performance. The group has performed for the Philly Fringe Festival and throughout the country.

Cost: Single ticket: $60, Table of 10: $300
Alumni are invited to mingle and dance the night away as we cap off Homecoming weekend with the annual Homecoming Dinner Dance. Alumni Awards will be presented during dinner.
