Alumni, family and friends joined the PhilaU community in celebrating another fun-filled Homecoming Weekend and Family Day on Oct. 4 and 5.
The festivities kicked off Friday evening with a Downton Abbey-themed alumni cocktail reception in The Design Center at Philadelphia University. Curator Sarah Moore selected some men’s and women’s apparel and accessories from the BBC show’s early 20th century time period to display during the event. Some guests wore historically appropriate outfits, including a cloche hat and Jazz-age style dresses.
Under clear, sunny skies on Saturday, Oct. 5, runners and walkers gathered early for the annual 5K Ram Run, which benefitted the Physician Assistant Studies program. Later that day, PhilaU fans cheered on the Rams during men’s and women’s soccer matches, a women’s volleyball game and a men’s baseball game.
The annual Homecoming Dinner Dance capped off the weekend for alumni. The evening began with a beer and cheese tasting featuring some of Philadelphia’s local breweries. Guests then danced the night away in The Gallagher Athletic Center. Several talented alumni were honored during the evening festivities, including:
Young Alumni Achievement Award
Vince Lattanzio ’07, NBC10 reporter
Time, Talent and Treasure Award
Kevin Kodz ’97, Cold Stone Creamery Franchisee
Leadership in Philanthropy Award
Robert J. Kunik ’53, founder/former owner, R.J. Kunik & Co. Inc.
