PhilaU-TJU Merger Will Propel Them To First Tier of Philly Universities: Philadelphia Inquirer

The proposed integration of Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University “will create an academic empire” that would be the city’s fifth-largest university, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Dec. 24.

The two universities, with more than 115 acres in East Falls and Center City, will focus on emerging professions and innovative options for combining undergraduate and graduate study, the story said. “…It’s an opportunity play,” said PhilaU President Stephen Spinelli Jr. “The synergies are huge.”
