PSU Coach, Former Ram Pat Chambers On Legacy of Famed Palestra: USA Today

Penn State University men’s basketball coach and former PhilaU Ram Pat Chambers was one of many basketball-obsessed kids who grew up in Philadelphia watching games at the Palestra, college basketball’s cathedral, USA Today reported Feb. 6 in a story on the 90th anniversary of the University of Pennsylvania’s famed gymnasium.

Chambers, “who grew up to play for legendary Philadelphia University coach Herb Magee,” scheduled a recent home game against Michigan State at the Palestra to give his team an opportunity to play at the lauded venue.

The USA Today story was picked up in more than 80 media outlets, including the Detroit Free Press, Arizona Republic, Cincinnati Enquirer, The Tennessean, The Indy Star and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
