Green Philly Blog has nominated Rob Fleming, director of Philadelphia University’s M.S. in Sustainable Design program, for a SustainPHL award in the category of sustainability mentor.
Fleming, an early leader in sustainable design and education, was named PhilaU’s Salaman Family Chair for Sustainable Design in 2014. He co-founded PhilaU’s sustainable design graduate program in 2007 as one of the first such programs in the country
His first book, Design Education for a Sustainable Future, provides the integral frameworks, whole system change methodologies and intrinsic values to assist professors and their students in an authentic and effective pursuit of sustainable design education. He is currently co-authoring two new textbooks on sustainable design for Taylor Francis and Wiley.
The SustainPHL mentor award recognizes people who broaden the reach of sustainability education to students and within the community. The winners will be announced Aug. 3 at the SustainPHL sustainability awards ceremony.
