Chancellor Spinelli Throws Out First Pitch at Phillies Game

First PitchBefore a hometown crowd that included hundreds of Jefferson students, faculty and staff, Chancellor Stephen Spinelli Jr., Ph.D., threw out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies game Sept. 25 to celebrate the new Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University).

Just before the 7:05 p.m. start at Citizens Bank Park, Spinelli stepped onto the pitcher’s mound and threw the ball straight into the mitt of the team’s mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, at home plate. Despite Spinelli’s excellent pitching, the Phils lost 3-1 to the Nationals.
