Jefferson Reveals New Athletics Brand at Ram Madness

Ram10The 2017-18 Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) basketball season kicked off with the reveal of the new Jefferson Rams athletics logo and colors at Ram Madness.

Fans filled the stands at the Gallagher Athletic Center.

“This year’s Ram Madness produced a tremendous level of support for not only the new athletics brand but also the upcoming basketball season,” said Tom Shirley, assistant vice president of Athletics and head coach for the women’s basketball team. “The applause for the new colors and logos was overwhelming. It was a great night for Jefferson Athletics and an indication that the crowd support will be awesome this season.”

Fans filled the stands at the Gallagher Athletic Center on Oct. 12 for the annual pep rally that featured team introductions, T-shirt giveaways, basketball skills contests, an appearance by alumna and member of the Harlem Globetrotters Bria Young, and performances by the Jefferson cheerleaders, Ramettes, Ram Dance Company and Smooth Stomping Steppers.

Also during Ram Madness, Jefferson Chancellor Stephen Spinelli Jr., Ph.D., shared some recent University accomplishments with the energetic crowd, including graduates achieve a 95 percent job and grad school success rate; 76 student-athletes named DII Academic Achievement Award winners; Jefferson’s fashion program ranked No. 7 in the U.S. by Fashionista; and DesignIntelligence named the interior design program top 20 in the country.

The men’s basketball team, led by Head Coach and Naismith Hall of Famer Herb Magee who’s entering his 51st season, will play 31 regular season contests, including a trip to California and 13 home games. Read the season preview here.
