Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) student Lauren Coaxum recently received TLC’s Give A Little TLC award for creating an anti-cyberbullying organization that focuses on promoting positive self-esteem and using the internet for good.

Through her love of music and passion for helping others, she founded the nonprofit Think Before You Type with her sister, Victoria, in 2012.

“We’ve been able to interview dozens of music artists and other influential individuals about topics related to cyberbullying, self-esteem and positive internet use,” Coaxum said. “I love having the opportunity to have a hand in the entire process of working on an interview, from researching and writing questions to editing the final product. It’s so amazing to talk with musicians about their craft and to get them talking about topics that fit in with Think Before You Type’s mission.”

The network hosted the inaugural Give A Little TLC awards to honor people making a difference in preventing bullying. October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
