Rachel Day becomes the 32nd women’s basketball player at the University to reach 1,000 career points.

Jefferson senior Rachel Day reached 1,000 career points in an 84-70 win over the Nyack Warriors Wednesday night in the Gallagher Center.

She scored a game-high 26 points, including her 1,000th point with 4.1 seconds on the clock with a last-second free throw. Coach Tom Shirley called a timeout to let the team celebrate as Day embraced her family on the sideline. She’s the 32nd women’s basketball player at the University to reach the milestone.

The Rams (13-2) moved to 6-1 in conference play.

In the second half of the CACC doubleheader, the men’s basketball team (11-7, 6-1 CACC) defeated Nyack 89-68. The Rams shot 68.1 percent from the floor and made 14-of-21 three-pointers, both season highs.

The evening also was highlighted by the debut of Jefferson’s new uniforms, which showcased the color palette of dark blue, light blue and volt green.
