Jefferson Chancellor Stephen Spinelli’s son, Stephen Spinelli, assistant director of choral programs at Cornell University, and John Grecia, Jefferson Singers director, won Best Choral Performance at the Grammys on Jan. 28 for their work with The Crossing on composer Gavin Bryars’ “The Fifth Century,” conducted by Donald Nally.

“This whole thing is beyond surreal,” said Grecia, pianist/accompanist with The Crossing. “This award verifies that the work we’re doing is truly important, and it opens the door even wider to new music and new opportunities up ahead. I’m honored and grateful.”
