Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) fashion design senior Vanessa Fath is spending her summer interning at one of the largest global apparel companies, PVH. She works as a menswear design intern for Van Heusen in New York City. Fath, who recently won second place in the American Heart Association’s Rock the Red Runway fashion show, shares a few words about her experience:

“As a returner to the formal Internship Program, I have two jobs. I work my daily full-time job with the Van Heusen team putting together boards, sitting in on meetings, developing products and sketches, and trend forecasting for the fall ’19 line.

“In addition to that, I am a mentor to the interns working on the group project. Teams of selected interns are prompted by the presidents of each PVH division to create a thoroughly researched and curated presentation on a new, fresh idea that will improve the success of a brand within the corporation. As an intern last summer, I got to work hands-on with my team to create and present our proposal. Now, I am one of two mentors to six teams of interns working to develop their pitch and further prepare them to present to senior leaders at the end of the summer. This dual position provides me a unique and amazing opportunity to help my peers learn and grow with PVH as I learn and grow with the company myself.”
